Our Company
Catoctin Mountain Growers, Inc., located near Detour, Maryland, is a wholesale greenhouse operation started by
Bob and Denise Van Wingerden in 1985. They produce spring bedding plants, fall pansies, hardy mums, poinsettias, and specialty plants..
The company sells primarily to retail outlets and landscapers. As of 2012 the operation has 14 acres of 4 season greenhouses with more on the way, as we continue to grow & expand in the coming years.
CMG is nestled in the Catoctin Mountains which are best known as the site of Camp David - a mountain retreat for Presidents of the United States. First used in the 1930s by Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Camp David was originally called Shangri La, but it was later renamed by President Eisenhower, who named it after his grandson David.
